There will be small upgrade on the 2018 Volkswagen Passat compared to the earlier version. For US market, there will not be any exterior redesign. That means that the MSRP price should remain almost same as its predecessor.
The new 2018 Passat release date for the USA market should be set in second half of 2017. The latest news is that the EU launch date has been postponed in order to collide with the European-specs. Now the maker is already under immense pressure with this tactic. The reason for that being, now they have to decide if they are going to sell different versions of cars, which according to them, they are. 2018 Volkswagen Passat redesign
Since it was refreshed with 2016-year model, the 2018 VW Passat exterior design will be similar to the previous model. It will be available in seven trim levels: base 1.8T S, 1.8T R-Line, 1.8T SE, 1.8T SE with Technology, 1.8T SEL Premium, V6 SE with Technology and V6 SEL Premium. Automatic headlights with Daytime running lights are standard for all models but LED technology for all lights is standard only for higher trim levels and optional for R-Line and SE.
The front grille of the car has always been into consideration and rightly so because of its massive badge. There are eight colors available for 2018 Passat: Reflex Silver Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Pure White, Platinum Gray Metallic, Fortana Red Metallic, Reef Blue Metallic, Titanium Beige Metallic and Urano Gray.
What changes will Interior get?
The new VW Passat 2018 interior features are as good as it gets. The car might not see too many changes in the cabin space and infotainment features. Probably you can see some changes in the additional features of tech. Good to see is that the carmaker has taken serious note of the feedback from the customers and done likewise. The two-tone interior will be on all models while SE and higher models will come with frameless rearview mirror. When it comes to infotainment, there are either 5.0- or 6.33-inch displays, depending on chosen trim. VW’s infotainment system, MIB II, comes with Bluetooth connectivity, Sirius satellite XM radio and VW Car-Net App-Connect, Security & Service and Guide & Inform. Premium audio system includes also 8-speaker sound system.
New VW Passat 2018 specs
The new Volkswagen Passat 2018 will come with two powertrain options. They are a four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. The base engine is turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-4 with 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Mated to 6-speed automatic it will have fuel economy rated at 27 mpg of combined drive. The second engine is naturally aspirated V6 with 3.6-liter displacement that produces 280 horses and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with DSG 6-speed automatic, but with dual-clutch system for smooth ride. This drivetrain is good for 23 mpg of combined drive. Unlike what they have provided in their other models, Volkswagen has done a good job for the Passat. That has to be agreed upon.
After affair with diesel engines, we do not expect to see this oil burner under the hood of the next generation of Passat. However, you should not be surprised to see the next-generation Passat with the plug-in hybrid drivetrain. That would be a fantastic move by the designers of the car keeping in mind that they are moving in the right direction of saving fuel sources. The ride quality could have been improved to ensure comfort and convenience. Apart from that, it is a great car to own.
2018 Volkswagen Passat price and release date
The 2018 VW Passat pricing and release date were not available. Since there are no big changes its price should be around the cost of its predecessor. That means that it should start around $22,000 for base S model while top V6 SEL Premium will have base price around $34,000. The Passat can be released in the market later this year, probably in mid-fall. If you want to own the best in the class, then Passat should be considered in your garage.
